Singular Value [R4,MP3]
produced by David.B, 02-09-2008
Almost right on cue for my yearly song.
I did this song after listening to some old songs and I like them so much better than the new stuff. That feeling of freedom was missing in modern songs, so I went back to it. Simple, dancefloor music, that's all. But fun ;)
Hopefully you'll enjoy it too.
Final mastering done by Fiery Dawn, check out his new business, that's top stuff and affordable:

The machines are on the march! They are multiplying at ludicrous speeds! They are taking over the known Universe! Holy Sci-fi attack! This is very mech. Definately reminds me of the Matrix. Cool man.
Could you?

luvely energetic textbook
really trying hard praps more use of the secondry synth (an of key high note every 4 beats adds that spacey feel)

Very good psy-trance track we have here! Driving hi-hats and energetic bass line, cool leads. Very good sound, though I recommend to add a high freq's a bit. I'll add this to my collection of good rps'es, and that means a lot - I've 301 rps in Reason songs dir and only 5 of them is considered good and above for me, now 6. :) Solid 9!

nice production, but lacks urgency in the leads... they need to be more dominant, but that's just a matter of opinion. nice!

Totally agree with u about modern trance. This is the kind of trance which made me fall in love with this genre. Love it.

All in all very good track,I'm not the best person to say if some trance track is this or that but I think you did pretty good job here, enough happening to keep me listening till the end and I'm not trance fan.I have to say I really loved the hats.

Hi David listening now.....
Intro patch on Thor #1 is very lucious sounding and not to mention uniqe too. Nice idea with the "step" in the REX HH3. This is great stuff David The rough lead is thick and I am looking forward to working with this please send away!

I´ve listened it the last days again & again.
Absolutely no beef - great build-up,great sounds & nice work on the drums. Nostalgic ? pahhh who cares, still more melodic than many modern productions. Looking forward to your next one in 2009..hahaha...

I would enjoy learning more about what this piece has to do with the mathematical notion of a "singular value", if there is any link. Sometimes it's fun to get the background on what the artist has in mind, before commenting much. As far as the music is concerned: The soundclick (presumably mp3) came through with a little less sparkle than the original probably has. I like the countermelodies and panned percs. I think the bass would have been more fun, if it was nastier. Same for the thin, waspy synth. Good stuff. Nice.

It's a well produced trance, but for me, when I think of psy trance, I think of augmented, screwed up basslines with dirty edged synths and compositions that force you to listen carefully. Here it's just an outdated trance production experimenting with some psy-ish sounds, its busy though which does keep my attention but I wanted to be good and it didn't, if you know what I mean?
Fair attempt, but I'm gonna go with PZP and say you can do a whole lot better, its nice to see an ol timer back I guess.

Well, I understand very few things about trance, so I probably miss the point here. When I think about psy-trance, I think about morphing sounds and sub-conscious bass movement. One example would be 'Dancing with Kaddafi' for me. Here I could not hear either of those components... so it all went through me without a trace.
Cheers!

Hey mate..long time no hear...good to see ya back uploading.
Well, not sure about this one. Was well done but perhaps a little standard. I didn't like the delay on the synth following the bass, it seemed the bass had a delay on it, which took up a little too much space in the mix. Some nice elements in it, however i felt this track had no real unique or standout element. I liked the more dirty hard and sweeping synths, but the leads and arps were pretty standard. Progression was ordinary with no real surprise or interesting developments to keep the listener interested. Kick and bass fit really well together and the mix was pretty good. Sound Q was great also. Fiery always has high Q sound! Lets hope you upload more than one track a year. Well done!!!

Im gonna have to disagree with Q on this one. Track has just enough things going to keep listeners atention. I just love the sound and that heavy mofo kick rolls wonderfully with the bassline. Leads are good too. This one would definitely make me dance. Sound is great !!!

bit exactly spectacular mate, I enjoyd the first 2 minutes ,but got a lil bored with the latter parts, to much standard proceedings I guess, perhaps its time you upped your annual output to 4 mate then we could have a quarterly intervall :P
All the best Dave

Well David, you already know my opinion about this track, but still: it's really groovy, energetic tune with many catchy elements and hypnotic lines.
Very good work indeed!

A nice kicking in intro which lifted my dancefoot heavy. The first part after the intro was a little boring, but rest of the parts was nice. A special track since it has elements in the melody as a mix of psy and some other more oldskool style.
The quality is top notch, but you and Fiery have allways that.
Not your best one, but enough to have a nice trip.
Respect, Anders!
